How does the scheme work?

Learn Anywhere is designed to be straightforward to implement. These are the typical stages of a scheme:

1. Initial consultation

Every school has different needs. Syscap consultants will spend time understanding your school’s vision and then help you create a sustainable strategy. Should you wish, we can put you in contact with other schools so you can better understand how these schemes can work in practice. You then choose the equipment you want, whether from our partners or other suppliers. Finally, we’ll create a Learn Anywhere package tailored to you, your pupils and your parents .

2. Parental and governor buy-in

Equity of access is fundamental to any Learn Anywhere programme. And to achieve this, parental buy-in is essential. Once you have decided to go ahead with Learn Anywhere, we’ll help to present the scheme first to governors and then to parents, so that everyone understands fully what their involvement will be, and importantly, how it will benefit their children.

It’s natural that in some schools, not all parents will have either the means or the desire to invest in this scheme. In these cases, there are still ways of continuing the scheme, such as gift aid and grants. Syscap will help you reach the best solution to make sure your programme gets off the ground with the maximum take up.

Parents and governors will be given a set amount of time, to be decided by the school, in which to approve or reject the proposition

3. Roll out of Learn Anywhere

Following approval, your supplier will deliver your devices. Generally, Learn Anywhere projects begin with one class, and expand to other classes in subsequent years. We’ve found this to be the most achievable and sustainable way of approaching personalised learning programmes.

4. Ongoing support

The Learn Anywhere package includes management and support to ensure the ongoing success of your laptop scheme. It also includes insurance in case of damage as well as a payment collection service – taking away the administrative burden from the school.

5. What does the package include?

The Learn Anywhere package typically includes:

·       Consultation – to create a sustainable, effective Learn Anywhere scheme that matches your vision

·       Hardware – laptop, PDA or other mobile device

·       Software – this will depend on your requirements, but will generally comprise word processing, web browser, parental control, virus software and school site licence software
